CAM-POSTCAM-POST®可以读取所覆盖的CAD/CAM软件所生成的刀具路径文件,定制所覆盖的NC系统的专用后置处理器,它主要分为如下两部分:
(1) QUEST: 数据库模板系统。 数据库模板中包含各种类型的机床及控制系统可能遇到的问题及解决的方法。用户根据需要,回答问题,得到专用的数据库。当数据库模板不能满足用户的要求时,可用Post-Processor Development编制宏程序,进行二次开发。
(2) GENER:
应用QUEST产生数据库,把由CAM系统产生的刀具路径文件转换成数控机床所能直接识别的NC程序。ICAM公司的CAM-POST具有高速加工所要求的处理功能,能支持Bezier、NURBS、Polynomial和Spline四种曲面拟和模型,在QUEST中设置了专家系统工具等,使软件的功能又大有扩展。能够处理不同类型格式的刀具路径文件,并做优化处理,以适应不同类型的机床、不同类型的系统、不同类型的零件的加工需求,生成的NC程序不需人工做二次修改,而直接应用于机床是后置处理器技术的发展方向。

旋-转-绕(RTA)是一种逻辑步骤。在连续加工的过程中,当旋转或线性移动达到极限时,该步骤保证将工具从材料中撤出,并重新设定刀具的姿态。旋转轴连续偏转变位和预定位功能提供了更大范围内不间断的五轴加工能力。选用正确的刀轴位置以保证操作者能更好地观察,或使五轴尽可能地保持协调一致。刀具轨迹规划在快速移动中使用预测功能自动选择最佳的刀具轨迹,如可能地话需要旋-转-绕。假如在连续切削过程中需要确定旋转轴的中间位置,可以用刀具轨迹规划对平行于刀具轴线的旋转轴进行预先定位。旋转刀具中心点(RTCP)是高级控制器的一项功能。该功能允许使用者输出刀具端点坐标而不是控制点的坐标。RTCP编程支持实际的轴、矢量、双点、欧拉、RPY或虚拟旋转轴控制方法。该控制计算运动学参数,将线性拟合及全部五轴刀具补偿处理成更简单更易传输的程序。局部坐标系转换(LCS) CAM-POST支持平移、旋转、缩放、镜像和添加转换。可以设定成当刀具方向改变时手动或自动激活坐标系。LCS还包括从CAM系统中暗示识别最理想的坐标系的功能。所有关于移动、给进和计时的计算都是依据机床真实的物理结构而连续地进行。
