Gemcom Software International Inc., the largest global supplier of mining software solutions, announced that it has released Gemcom MinexTM 6.1, the latest version of the industry’s only integrated end-to-end software solution designed specifically for stratified deposits. Minex fully integrates all aspects of mining from exploration through rehabilitation, ensuring that resources are evaluated accurately and mined efficiently, improving productivity and profitability throughout the mining lifecycle.

“To address the needs of the growing number of underground coal mines around the world, Minex 6.1 includes a new, innovative Underground Mine Design and Reserves module,” said Andre Broodryk, Gemcom’s product manager for Minex. “This module, which can be applied to any stratified deposit, enables mining engineers to quickly and easily create different mine design options and evaluate them accurately before committing resources to production. Since the module is fully integrated with Minex’s other geology and mine planning tools, mining engineers can develop design options that take complex geological factors into consideration.”

Also added to Minex 6.1 are new and enhanced features such as advanced file management tools which save users time by providing greater control over the storage location and structure of project files. Additional productivity improvements for users include the automation of commonly performed tasks through recording and playback scripting options. Also of note in the release are data interoperability upgrades which consist of support for AutoCAD 2010 file import and export, and the ability to save all borehole data to CSV files for archiving or transfer to other software programs.
